There is only a small chance of snow in December and if it snows, it usually melts away quickly. It is more likely to snow in January or February, but you never know, you may get to experience snow in December.

December is high tourist season as lots of travelers come to Budapest for the Christmas and New Years’ holidays. If you are looking for a less busy and more affordable time to visit Budapest, January and February are both good times to do so.

The City Park is located just behind the Heroes’ Square in central Budapest. There is a small lake in the City Park where you can go boating in the summertime. In the winter, they turn the lake into an ice-skating rink and it is one of the biggest ice skating rinks in Budapest.

There are also ice-skating rinks set up at some of the Budapest Christmas markets, such as the St. Stephen’s Basilica Advent Fair and at the Óbuda Christmas Fair.
