Dhulikhel is 30 km east of Kathmandu and can be reached by taking a direct bus from Kathmandu. The bus leaves from Ratna Park and takes about 2 hours to get there.

The bus journey takes 2 hours as there can be a lot of traffic in Kathmandu and the road conditions worsen once the bus is outside of Kathmandu.

Dhulikhel is a popular destination to see the sunrise over the Himalayas. It is a less touristy alternative to visiting Nagarkot.

How to Get from Kathmandu to Dhulikhel By Bus

The bus to Dhulikhel leaves from Ratna Park in Kathmandu. Ratna Park is quite close to Thamel, so if you are staying there, you can walk there in 10-15 minutes. 

The bus stand is at Bir Hospital Bus Stop at Ratna Park (see map below). The bus stop is on the road opposite Bir Hospital. If you locate Bir Hospital on the map, just go over to the other side and you will see a number of buses parked there. Usually, the bus helpers/ticket conductors are around and you can ask which bus is going to Dhulikhel.
