How to Get from Pokhara to Phedi (By Bus, Taxi)
Phedi is near Pokhara, and you can get there by taking a taxi or a local bus. Phedi is a popular starting point for those trekking to the Australian Camp, but you can also just hike from Phedi to Dhampus for a short hike.
I took the bus from Pokhara to Phedi on my trek to Australian Camp. I decided to take the local bus as I was traveling solo and it was a budget-friendly option.
Surprisingly, the road from Pokhara to Phedi is in a pretty good condition, so the bus ride is not too bad. The bus is a local bus, so it is not as comfortable like a tourist bus, but the road conditions are okay, so the bus is a good option.

How to Get from Pokhara to Phedi
Pokhara to Phedi Distance
Phedi is 14 km from Pokhara, and it takes about 40 minutes to get there by bus. If you take a taxi, it takes around 20-30 minutes to get from Pokhara to Phedi.
All in all, I found that Phedi is easy to reach from Pokhara. The road is in good condition and it goes through more of a flat road, than a dangerous mountain road.
Pokhara to Phedi Bus

Phedi is near Pokhara, and there are regular, direct buses to Phedi. The bus leaves once an hour from Hari Chowk in Pokhara. I traveled on this route a few times, and there is a bus that leaves at 7 am. There are buses once an hour, but I like to take the one at 7 am and get my trip started early.
Phedi is a popular starting point for the Australian Camp Trek and even for Mardi Himal. (Although if my plan was to trek to Mardi Himal then I would start in Kande, and if I only went to Australian Camp, then I would start in Phedi).
Getting from Lakeside to Hari Chowk
Most of the travellers stay in Lakeside in Pokhara and if you plan to go from there to Hari Chowk, you can either take a taxi or a local bus.
Lakeside to Hari Chowk by Bus
To get from Lakeside to Hari Chowk by bus, first you will have to take a bus from Lakeside to 0 Km and then another bus from 0 Km to Hari Chowk:
- Bus from Lakeside to 0 Km (bus fare: Rs. 30)
- Bus from 0 Km to Hari Chowk (bus fare: Rs. 30)
Lakeside to Hari Chowk by Taxi
You can either hail a regular taxi or book one through one of the Nepali taxi apps (InDrive or Pathao). Only the InDrive and Pathao taxi apps work in Pokhara. They are just like Uber and they are quick and easy to book.
If you book a taxi through InDrive or Pathao, you will get the best taxi prices. Usually, if you just hail a taxi, you may get a more expensive price or you will have to negotiate the price a bit.

Getting from Hari Chowk (Pokhara) to Phedi
Once you get to Hari Chowk, there are a couple of buses going to different places, so it is best to ask which bus goes to Phedi.
Once you are on the bus, you can relax. The bus helper will tell you once you reach Phedi and will drop you off.

Taking the taxi to Phedi is a faster and more comfortable option, plus if you are traveling in a group, you can also split the cost.

The next day, you can trek down from the Australian Camp to Kande in about 1 hour. Once you get to the end of the trail in Kande, you will see the bus that goes back to Pokhara.
