Overall, getting a Visa on Arrival for Nepal is fairly easy and available to almost all nationalities (check your eligibility here).
You can pre-fill the visa application form 15 days before arrival and then pay and get the tourist visa for Nepal after landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The process can be completed quickly if the airport is not too busy at the time.

How to Get a Visa on Arrival for Nepal
1. Fill in the Nepal Visa Application Form
- Option 1: Fill in the Visa on Arrival form at home and save time at the airport! After filling in the Nepal Visa Application form, just bring a digital copy with you to the airport (it can be a photo/screenshot on your phone). If you fill it in beforehand, it can save you time and get through immigration much faster. The form has a validity of 15 days, so only fill it in within 15 days of arrival. You will have to pay for the visa at the airport and not online.
- Option 2: Fill in the Visa on Arrival form at the airport. There are machines at the airport where you can fill in the form. There are only a few machines so if there are a lot of people filling in the form at the airport, it can take a long time. (The machines will be to your right hand side as you enter the immigration hall)
2. Pay for Your Visa
Take the copy/photo/screenshot of your ‘Visa on Arrival’ application form to pay for the visa fees. All major currencies are accepted to pay for the visa fees (including USD, EUR, GBP).
The counter to pay for the visa fee is on the left side of the immigration hall (next to the currency exchange desk).
3. Get the Visa in Your Passport
After you pay for the fees, you will finally go to queue to the immigration officers in the centre of the hall. Take your payment slip, visa application form and passport to the immigration officer and you will get the visa in your passport.
The process can take up a long-time if there are a lot of travellers arriving at the same time. If you have a chance to pre-fill the visa on arrival form before arriving in Nepal, it can help you to get through the visa application process much faster.

The tourist visa can be easily extended at the Immigration Office in Kathmandu or Pokhara. The visa extension costs USD 3/day. You can extend the visa for up to 150 days per calendar year.

From January, you are again eligible for a visa up to 150 days per year. Plus: You can extend or get a new visa days before your visa expires so don’t leave it to the last day!
